The Wimbledon Junior champion defeated the favorite Lesley Pattinama in two sets and will meet Estela Perez-Somarriba in the semifinals.

Rebeka Masarova and Mai Hontama will also be looking for a place in Sunday’s final.

The Motor Gorbea center court of the Peña Vitoriana again lived another of those matches full of emotion. With the public in her favor and a club she has known since she was a child, Ane Mintegi was once again the protagonist after knocking out the 157th in the world, the Dutch Lesley Pattinama in two sets, 6-3, 6-3. Based on the result, it might have seemed easy, but the Basque and the Dutchwoman gave their all. With her first serve Mintegi knew how to take advantage, to score winners with her topspin forehand and bouncing balls. In the exchange of blows, Mintegi was always superior and gradually wore down a Pattinama who was unable to change the dynamic. It is another step in the unstoppable career of the player from Idiazabal, who reaches the semifinals of a WTA tournament for the first time in her short career. Her resignation to play the quarterfinals in doubles together with Victoria Jimenez, has helped her to recover a portentous physique but she is starting to feel the effort of the London trophy where she took the honors of being the first Spanish player to win the Wimbledon Junior title.

She will meet Estela Pérez-Somarriba in the semifinals, one of the players who is showing a solid game on the courts of Vitoria and who beat the Finnish Anastasia Kulikova 6-3, 7-5 in her quarterfinal match. On the other side of the draw, the Spanish Rebeka Mastarova, another of the players who is recovering the best sensations in the Basque tournament, beat the Paraguayan Veronica Cepede in two sets (7-6, 6-4) and will meet in her semifinal match with the Japanese Mai Hontama who beat the French Jessika Ponchet in two comfortable sets, 6-4, 6-3.

The doubles draw already has its final that will be played this Saturday at 4:00 pm and will face the couple Celia Cerviño- Olivia Nicholls against Rebeka Masarova- Olivia Gadecki.

All matches can be seen on Eurosport 2.

Saturday will be completed with a children’s clinic in the morning from 9:30 am with the presence of the players Alba Carrillo, Ángela Fita. Celia Cerviño and Ane Mintegi. At 18:00 is scheduled the PROAM Tournament with athletes from other disciplines among which will be the players of Alavés-Gloriosas that this year will compete in the highest category of Spanish women’s soccer.
