The Peña Vitoriana will pay tribute to Ane Mintegi, Wimbledon Junior champion, at the Araba World Tennis Tour

The tennis player from Guipuzcoa is scheduled to make her debut at the ITF W60 tournament in Vitoria next Wednesday, July 14th.

The young Basque tennis player, Ane Mintegi, has been proclaimed Junior Wimbledon champion after defeating the German Nastasja Schunk in the final in three sets, coming back from the first set down. 6-2, 4-6 and 1-6 was the final result that allowed the 17-year-old tennis player from Guipuzcoa to make history and become the first Spanish junior to win this Grand Slam in the junior category, the same sweets already tasted by Conchita Martinez and Garbiñe Muguruza in the absolute tournament. Before her, in the male junior category, Manolo Orantes achieved it in 1967 and Alejandro Davidovich, in 2017.

Champion of Euskadi and one of the great promises of Spanish women’s tennis, Ane Mintegi had already confirmed her presence in the II edition of the Araba World Tennis Tour, an ITF 60,000 that is held from this Sunday on the courts of the Peña Vitoriana Tennis club and in which she was already in 2019 where she was eliminated against Marina Bassolls.

She is scheduled to make her debut in the international tournament in Vitoria next Wednesday, once the preliminary phase ends this Monday and the final draw of the 32 players who will opt for the final title is known.

The Peña Vitoriana Tenis Club as the organizing club will pay tribute and recognition for this great title that represents an important leap in his career. The last time Mintegi stepped on the courts of the club was in September 2020, where she revalidated her title of champion of Euskadi.
