The round of 16 of the IV ARABA WORLD TENNIS TOUR FEMENINO Open Grupo Amutio singles draw has been set up

  • Wednesday saw the start of the final singles draw where the main seeded players of the Vitoria tournament made their debut.
  • On Thursday the day continues with the round of 16 singles and quarterfinals in the doubles draw.

 

Vitoria-Gasteiz, July 19, 2023.- On the fourth day of the IV ARABA WORLD TENNIS TOUR FEMENINO Open Grupo Amutio that takes place at the Peña Vitoriana Tennis Club, the round of sixteen corresponding to the final round of the tournament in the singles draw have been played.

Sixteen matches have been played where the main seeded players of the tournament have made their debut, such as the British Burrage, or the French Dodin and Ponchet, champion of the tournament last year. It is worth mentioning the participation of Eala, the last US Open Junior champion.

They have qualified for the next round: Ankita Raina (IND), Nahia Berecoechea (FRA), Jessika Ponchet (FRA), Daria Snigur (UKR), Marina Bassols (ESP), Valeria Savinykh (RUS), Jodie Burrage (GBR), Georgina Garcia Perez (ESP), Lia Karatancheva (BUL), Eva Guerrero Alvarez (ESP), Bai Zhuoxuan (CHN), Anastasia Kulikova (FIN), Oceane Dodin (FRA), Lucia Cortez Llorca (ESP), Tianmi Mi (CHN) and Alexandra Eala (PHI).

The day began with a surprise in the third round match at the Araba Aldundia court, with the victory of Bulgarian Lia Karatancheva, qualified in the previous round, beating Serbian Aleksandra Krunic. Also noteworthy was the great match of the Basque Mercedes Aristegui against the second seed, Oceane Dodin, who decided the match in the third set after a hard-fought match.

As a closing of the day, the victory of Alexandra Eala, beating the Romanian Jaqueline Cristian in 3 sets after more than 3 hours of match, with a devoted audience enjoying a great match.

The competition continues tomorrow at 11.00 am with a total of 11 matches with free public access to the Peña Vitoriana.
