The doubles final will pit Haverlag-Mikulskyte against Rosca-Bondarenko

 

The Araba World Tennis Tour-Open Grupo Amutio enters its decisive phase. After an exciting quarterfinals, this Saturday we will see two high-voltage clashes in the semifinals. France’s Ponchet, seeded 3, struggled to overcome Taiwan’s Liang and needed three sets to get through the round (6-2, 6-7, 6-3). The Frenchwoman has shown herself to be a confident player and very difficult to beat on the courts of Vitoria. The French player will face the Philippine Alexandra Eala, another of the players who today has overcome the British Eden Silva with enormous superiority by 6-1, 6-1.

On the other side of the draw, Eva Guerrero, from Madrid and based in Andalusia, once again proved to be the tennis warrior of the tournament, living up to her surname. In her match against the battling Bantecchi, the Swiss had to retire in the fifth game, when the Spaniard was leading 3-2, due to a painful plantar fasciitis. The road to the semifinal was easier, although Guerrero was concerned about her opponent’s physical problems. To earn a place in the final she will have to overcome the Swiss Duerst, another player who surprised in the capital of Alava.

Doubles final not before 15:00 hours

The Dutch Haverlag together with the Lithuanian Mikulskyte, seeded 3, start as favorites, although their rivals, the rough Bodarenko and the Romanian Rosca have shown quality and mental ability to overcome Zhu and Liang. The easterners also started with options to win the title but had to come back from a first set down to succumb in the third.
