The II edition of the ITF 60,000 Araba World Tennis Tour “Araba en femenino” tournament to be held between July 11 and 18 will open this Saturday from 11:00 am with the “Tennis Street” in the Plaza de la Virgen Blanca.
An activity with which it is intended to bring tennis to the street and the whole of Alava society to experience this sport up close. A way to start a series of events parallel to the tournament itself that will begin on Sunday July 11 with the preliminary phase, a day earlier than planned due to poor weather forecasts for Monday July 12.
From 11 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. several tennis courts will be set up in the emblematic Virgen Blanca square for all the people who want to join the tennis fever that the capital of Alava will experience. The player Ángela Fita, winner of the I National Open Isa del Campo who will be in the final phase of ITF will be one of the protagonists, as well as the chair tennis players Rubén Valle and Raúl Moreno from the Miranda Tennis Club.
Another attractive activity will be the celebration of the PROAM Tournament, on Saturday, July 17, starting at 6:00 pm, in which several players from Alavés-Gloriosas have already confirmed their presence and will play some matches with the tournament’s own tennis players. In the morning, at 9:30 a.m., there will be a children’s clinic open to children who want to share experiences with some of the international players who will be present.
In addition, on July 18, prior to the final of the tournament, at 10:30 a.m., a wheelchair tennis exhibition will be held with the presence of the aforementioned players, Rubén Valle and Raúl Moreno.
We remind you that the II Araba World Tennis Tour will be played, in principle, with the public, although everything will depend on the evolution of Covid and the decisions that may be taken by the advisory council of LABI, the regulatory body of the actions against the pandemic in the Basque Country.
The maximum capacity allowed is 300 people, although from the organization, will be kept with maximum rigor all protocols and limits allowed. Admission will be free.
This Araba ITF 60,000, is one of the big bets of the Peña Vitoriana and Alava institutions to put Vitoria and Alava in the focus of international tennis.
It is estimated that about 120 players will land in Vitoria.
